BIOGRAPHY

Branko Marjanovic has been drawn to creative pursuits for as long as he can remember. As a young child, he began exploring art as a form of self-expression. “I vividly recall my initial days with a brush in hand and an unshakeable vision. I slowly began teaching myself by learning to paint mountain landscapes. They had a larger-than-life energy, and I was captivated by both their beauty and the perspective they bring.” The more that Branko immersed himself in these mountain landscapes and the serenity they brought him, the more he began manifesting truly living inside of his own artwork.
These early life manifestations came to be as he has been residing near the Rocky Mountains for the past 25+ years. The Rockies hold a special place in Branko’s heart. They represent the power of imagination, determination, and will-power.

With an artistic career spanning more than four decades, Branko has created a distinct palette and style that is well recognized and respected by a wide community of collectors and artists alike. In the early days, he experimented with oils and watercolors, which was where he learned how to capture both light and shade elements of each art subject. Once he mastered oils and watercolors, he began exploring acrylics, and this was where his authentic style of bold use of color was born. One of Branko’s favorite techniques is placing whitest white beside darkest dark and allowing the painting to direct light back. Fascinated by the effect of light and shade found in nature, Branko takes reference photographs and does sketches of the subject matter before painting – admittedly, preferring a good pencil stretch over a photo. The black and white images are used to look within the values of a subject, which then become the focal point. He has always believed that art should not be a copy of the photographic image but rather of mood and expression of a subject.
Branko has lived his life with two keys: integrity and values. He values a strong work ethic rooted in integrity. He has never been afraid of a challenge and admires the same drive in others. He has consistently maintained three elements in his art journey: “Be bold. Be fearless. Be unique. Sharp and free brush strokes and an imagination are everything you need. Painting is not work to me - it is something I become absorbed in. I welcome unexpected inspiration and believe perspective is everything.”
Today, signature works are proudly found in private collections through North America and Europe. Artworks are also exhibited in various art galleries throughout Canada.
